Week 8 Top 10

Disclaimer: This is a list for PUBLIC school teams in the area not private that way we avoid as many Strength of Schedule debates as possible.

THE TOP TEN

10. Brooke Point Black-Hawks (4-3)

Friday night's loss hurts the Black-Hawks for many reasons. Not only did they drop to 4-3 and to the 8 seed currently in the region 6B playoffs, but their next three games are Mountain View, Colonial Forge and Riverbend. The Black-Hawks will need to win 1 if not 2 of those games in order to make the playoffs for the first time since 2019.

9. Massaponax Panthers (3-4)

Massaponax creeps back into our top 10 after an impressive performance last Friday against BP. The win greatly improves the Panthers playoff hopes in their region and they have a favorable close out to their schedule with Stafford, North Stafford and Riverbend being left on the schedule if the Panthers can end the season at .500 they should be able to secure a spot in the postseason.

8. Courtland Cougars (4-2)

The Cougars defense has been what has been Courtland's unsung hero and last Friday night the story was no different. The Cougars took advantage of the plays their smothering defense made and eventually won the game 35-0, rival JM is next.

7. Riverbend Bears (3-3)

After going a month without a win the Bears looked eager to take the field on Friday night and dominated. Riverbend was up 41-0 in the 4th quarter before North put up 3 garbage time TD's to make the score look nicer. This is a playoff team and if they can avoid a slip up they will position themselves very well.

6. Louisa Lions (5-1)

Louisa is a 3 seed in what has turned out to be a fairly competitive 5C region. If the Lions can handle their last 4 games which includes a match-up with a talented Albemarle squad, the Lions will put themselves in good position to get the #1 seed.

5. Eastern View Cyclones (6-0)

Eastern View dominated James Monroe from the opening kickoff and now will have a match-up with Spotsylvania before their huge Battlefield district showdown next week.

4. Colonial Forge Eagles (6-1)

The Eagles rolled out some new offensive looks on Friday night, but unfortunately for the Eagles it was not enough to defeat their rival Mountain View. Region 6B is crazy deep and competive and as of right now the Eagles are sitting as the 4 seed, however the Eagles dont't have much wiggle room to secure a home playoff game. Patriot or Gainesville are in position to pass the Eagles if they were to fall again. To make matters worse for the Eagles is their next opponent is one that has had their number the past 3 seasons.

3. Kettle Run Cougars (6-0)

The Cougars by now are well known for lighting up the scoreboard with 40 and 50 burgers from week to week. But for only the second time since Porterfield arrived in Nokesville the Cougars put up 60... 61 to be exact. The Cougars are also on a 31 game regular season winning streak

2. Mountain View Wildcats (6-0)

The Wildcats made a statement that they are definitely still for real, and they may still be the best team in the Commonwealth district. And if beating their main rival wasn't a good enough prize than maybe the fact they are currently the one seed in their region will be, a few more tough regular season contests ahead for the Wildcats.

1. King George Foxes (6-0)

The Foxes went back to making things look easy last Friday night in a 54-0 win over Culpeper. The biggest task for this Foxes staff will be to keep them locked in and focused and keep making sure they are not over looking opponents they are better than on paper
