Week 1 Top 10

Disclaimer: This is a list for PUBLIC school teams in the area not private that way we avoid as many Strength of Schedule debates as possible.

THE TOP TEN

10. Brooke Point Black-Hawks (0-1)

Brooke was handled pretty easily by the area's best team. We believe KG is one of the best teams in the state, having to travel to their place and pull off a victory was always going to be a tough ask. Still believe this team has enough talent to get some nice wins this season.

9. Courtland Cougars (1-0)

Courtland impressed early and often on the road last week against previously 8 ranked Orange. They'll need to be ready for their next test as they hit the road again to take on Louisa in one of the toughest environments for a road team.

8. Louisa Lions (1-0)

Louisa played a perennial playoff team last Friday in Patrick Henry (Ashland) and won comfortably by 3 scores (35-14). New names like Samuel George and Jahiem Jackson showed up for the Lions and helped Louisa still look like Louisa. A fun match-up next week against Courtland will give us a good understanding of where this team is headed

7.  Eastern View Cyclones (1-0)

As usual, the Cyclones dominated their cross county rival on Friday night making their record 16-0 against the Blue Devils. This Cyclones team looks like the real deal but Jordan Tolson will give this defense a good test this Thursday night.

6. Massaponax Panthers (1-0)

The Panthers took a long trip north to Ashburn to take on a team with a lot of highly touted and recruited in Independence. The Panthers experience and toughness came through for the Panthers in the second half as they turned a 14-14 tie at the half into a 35-14 win. This win really impressed me, not just because of the opponent or winning on the road, I was impressed how Ponax just overwhelmed the Tigers in the second half, great job by Ian Shook in his first game at QB

5. Mountain View Wildcats (1-0)

The Wildcats struck early and often on Friday night dominating new regional foe Forest Park in a 38-0 win. Names like Torrie Martin and Pierre Harris stepped up and made plays for the offense on Friday night. Defensively the Wildcats were never threatened by the Bruins and they were able to get off the field all night on the way to a shut out. Woodgrove will take a long trip from Purceville this Thursday.

4. Riverbend Bears (1-0)

The Bears cruised in their first game on Friday night over rival Chancellor 55-0. Some of the usual guys had a great performance guys like Tanner Triplett, Amir Mateo and JoJo Thomas all contributed and scored Friday night but so did freshman Camden Simmons who impressed in his first varsity game scoring 2 Touchdowns and showing off some nice speed in the process the Bears will take on Forest Park this Friday.

3. Kettle Run Cougars (1-0)

The Cougars showed that they remain the class of Fauquier County. The Cougars beat Liberty 41-20 Friday night and their new pieces fit right in this great Kettle Run offensive scheme. Jacob Mulhern picked up where past Kettle Run QBs like Abram Chumley and Beau Lang left off, throwing 4 Touchdowns on Friday night. Colton Quaker ran for over 100 yards and Sam Rogers had a fantastic night with over 100 yards receiving and 2 Touchdowns. The Cougars still know how to put points on the board which is a bad sign for other teams in Class 3.

2. Colonial Forge Eagles (1-0)

The Eagles overcame a great performance by Woodbridge's freshman QB and won Friday night 48-22. Ethen Horne who was playing against his former team went absolutely nuts scoring 3 TDs (2 Rushing 1 Receiving). With a player like that it will be interesting over these next few weeks to see how teams will plan to make him less of a factor don't get it twisted Horne is not the only talented player the Eagles have on that side of the ball Forge looks to be one of the hardest teams to stop in the area this season

1. King George Foxes (1-0)

The Foxes jumped out in front of the Black-Hawks Thursday night, as they scored 41 first half points before they eventually rolled 48-14. Jack Pearson looked great in this game as the ball rarely hit the floor and he threw 4 first half Touchdows. It is hard to imagine how people will be able to stop this passing attack especially when the Foxes have Charles Johnson at running back who is likely going to be one of the hardest RBs to tackle in the area.
