Week 10 Top Ten

The last week of the season is here and while many will be in pads for the last time until late July 2022 Quite a few a gearing up for a playoff run... Find out who the contenders are for that with our Power Polls

Disclaimer: This is a list for PUBLIC school teams in the area not private that way we avoid as many Strength of Schedule debates as possible.

THE TOP TEN

10. Spotsylvania Knights (5-4)

So you got handled by King George... Shake it off everyone has, take care of business and finish the season 6-4 and maybe with some luck you sneak into a playoff spot.

9. Colonial Forge Eagles (4-5)

The Eagles played what was likely their best game of the season, Putting up 28 first half points behind what was easily Khyri Hawkins's best game of the year. They had their struggles in the second half but what mattered the most is they were able to hold off the Black-Hawks and put a firmer hold on a potential playoff spot in region 6B a win over Massaponax this week would do wonders for their positioning.

8. North Stafford Wolverines (3-5)

I find it very unfortunate that the Wolverines have the record that they have and are in the position they are in. Let me break it down... North Stafford fell by one point against Lake Braddock and Riverbend thanks to Special Teams mishaps had to forfeit their Colonial Forge game and never got to reschedule their game vs Dinwiddie.  In my opinion this could have been a 6-3 team at this point if they had any amount of luck go their way... but instead they sit here 3-5 several spots out of a playoff spot needing nothing short of a couple of miracles in order to sneak in and secure the 8th seed. They showed us Thursday how good they can be however, trading blows with the number 1 team until the Wildcats put them away in the 4th... I would expect this team to be uber focused going into what will potentially be their final game of the year

7. Chancellor Chargers (4-2)

Not a lot is said about Chancellor, but they've fallen to some of the areas best and beaten up on everyone else and last week was no different. This is certainly a team that if disrespected and slept can upset one of the favorites in the region

6. Louisa Lions (7-2)

It has been kind of a humbling season for the Lions. Earlier this year their impressive regular season winning streak was snapped... About a month later their 31 game win streak over the Jefferson district has been snapped... All good things come to an end and Louisa is still one of the models of consistency in the area, expect them to rebound and enter the playoffs with some momentum

5. Riverbend Bears (7-2)

Riverbend kind of looked just a little bored this past Thursday night in their 35-0 win over Stafford. They'll need to ramp up their intensity this week... But you better believe they will be ready this team has looked good in really all but one game this season and their defense will keep them in the game against anybody. With a shot at the district title on the horizon and a chance to improve their 7th seed in region 5D look for the Bears to put it all on the line this Friday night

4. Massaponax Panthers (4-1)

I'm sure Massaponax felt weird having a bye week as soon as Friday night football was becoming a consistent thing for this team after having their first 4 games cancelled/ppd. A big game this Friday night though as the Panthers now find themselves looking up at Albemarle and Woodgrove for the 3rd and 4th spots in the region... A win on Friday will likely elevate them back to number 3.

3. Kettle Run Cougars (8-1)

A well timed bye for this 8-1 team could provide a boost for a team looking to make noise in the postseason

2. King George Foxes (8-0)

As if it isn't already difficult to stop King George, the Foxes have only given up 4 TDs all season long. This team is frightening their offense has two of everything 2 RBs 2 WRs. Great coaching and amazing fans. Last year an injury to Charles Mutter in the state semi finals derailed an amazing season. A few months later a better team has risen with more experience, more depth but the on the same mission. But they will have to approach there game against Courtland with the same intensity they have all year long.

1. Mountain View Wildcats (9-0)

Mountain View played their second close game of the year last Thursday and they won it by two TDs. And who knows what happens if you take away the scoop and score as a result of a bad exchange from the Wolverines... The game might have never been close. But it was and the Wildcats withstood the storm against their rivals and prevailed. They are the Kings of Stafford County this season. But that won't get them a banner, defeating Riverbend and winning the district however....
