7. Louisa Lions

2022 was very much a return to form for the Louisa Lions. After finishing 9-3 and having to share a district title in 2021. The Lions had one of their most dominant seasons on the offensive side of the ball. Even though the season ended in the second round, the future still looked bright for a team that averaged 51 points per game. So why are the Lions not further up on this list? Well first of all the Lions lost QB Landon Wilson to graduation, that was expected. But what hurts the Lions offensively even more is the transfer of both D-1 athletes Dyzier Carter and Savion Hiter out of the program. Both were Freshman and now neither are on the roster. Graduation also took away other valuable seniors like Takai Comfort, and Qwenton Spellman. It Is safe to say that the 2023 Lions will look and play differently than the 2022 Lions.

But does that mean we should expect the Lions to fall off? The Lions are still more talented than most of the teams on their schedule. Adam Mills will look to be Louisa's leading rusher this season. Talented athletes like Isaiah Haywood and Donovan Nelson look to replace as much offensive production as they can. Defensively the Lions will look to leadership from Senior Christian Johnson (LB) to replace a very talented Senior class

The Lions will face a tough first 3 games with Patrick Henry (Ashland), Courtland and then #9 Massaponax. After they face their Jefferson District foes which have struggled to truly challenge Louisa over the last few years. The Lions may not have the same eye popping name talent as they did last year, but at the end of the year don't be surprised if the Lions have a familiar record

Record Projection: 9-1
