9. Kettle Run Cougars

                           A year ago when we started covering schools from Fauquier county. I advised people take note of this team from Nokesville right on the border of Fauquier and Prince William County and all they did from there was beat up on every team on their schedule that wasn't from Loudoun County. This season while they won't have Gunslinger Beau Lang at QB nor will they have TWO great WR threats that gave opponents nightmares on game week, this is a team that still returns enough talent to possibly 3-peat as Northwestern District Champions. Jordan Tapscott (6'2 170) will be back at WR, Peyton Mehaffey will be back as well and he will be a large contributor on both the defensive and offensive side of the ball. The team is still led by coach Charles Porterfield who has learned from coaches like Brud Bicknell which is why Porterfield teams have a tendency to put up points in bunches. The schedule is of course the same as last seasons but the location of the games will change. Teams like Heritage, Brentsville District, Liberty and Handley  will likely be some very close match-ups, however I have a feeling there will be another Northwestern title banner being hung in Kettle Run's gym.
