Week 7 is here and we are in the middle of district play only 4 guaranteed games left for most teams please go watch these kids play!

       INTRIGUING MATCH-UPS

   #4 Colonial Forge (6-1) at #7 Riverbend (3-3)

Up until the Spring 2021 football season Riverbend had only beaten Forge once in their school history and had suffered several lopsided losses to the Eagles who spent many years enjoying a significant talent advantage over the Bears. Since that point Riverbend has not just beaten Colonial Forge 3 years in a row, but they've done it behind their dominating defense who has held the Eagles to just one Touchdown in these 2 teams last 3 meetings. A lot is on the line here tonight so let's get into it. Both of these teams come into this one tied for second place in the Commonwealth district, the winner of this one will likely finish second place with a chance to claim a share of the district title if Mountain View were to slip up in any of their remaining district games. The Bears turned in a complete performance last week dominating winless North Stafford on both sides of the ball. While Forge saw their offense struggle and their defense wear down a week ago against unbeaten Mountain View. Neither of these teams are limited when it comes to big names that can effect this game. For Riverbend (QB) Tanner Triplett will try to avoid turnovers and rely on skill guys (RB) JoJo Thomas, (WR) Amir Mateo and (WR) Camden Simmons to make plays, if there is one thing they have shown in district play it's the fact that they have the ability to hit big at any time. Defensively the Bears have given the Eagles trouble and this years defense will look to do the same. As for Forge it appears the Eagles went with a different QB last week against Mountain View how ready will he be for a Bears defense that has shutout the Eagles the last 2 seasons? Offensively some of the names we heard earlier this season have had a harder time making plays in the last 2 weeks, will this be the game that a player like Ethen Horne or Josiah Bryson (1 TD last week) makes a huge play to put the Eagles on top? When talking about playoff implications Colonial Forge currently sits as the 4 seed in region 6B, the last spot if the Eagles hope to have at least one home playoff game, a loss tonight would make things a little unclear with teams like Gainesville and Patriot lurking in  the Power Points behind them. As for Riverbend they're sitting in 3rd place in region 5D and a win or a loss will greatly affect their seeding this week.

#10 Brooke Point (4-3) at #2 Mountain View (6-0)

In another game with huge playoff implications, Brooke Point will travel across the county to Western Stafford to take on Mountain View. As of today Mountain View sits as the 1 seed in Region 6B and Brooke Point sits as the #8 seed. With teams like Potomac, Hylton and Woodbridge breathing down their neck it's hard to not see nearly every game from here to the end of the season as a playoff game for Brooke Point. As far as the history between these 2 teams, there's plenty. Mountain View has dominated this match-up in recent contest winning 5 out of the last 6 and the last 4 in this series. However, Brooke Point has played spoiler to undefeated MV teams in the past, both the 2015 and 2018 Wildcats started 6-0 and 5-0 respectively and were defeated by an upset minded Brooke Point. This years upset minded Brooke Point is of course led by star (RB) Daniel Coles who has been exactly who he has been advertised to be. I hear a lot of names being brought up as the best back in the state but in my opinion that conversation ca't be had unless you start the conversation talking about Daniel Coles. But Coles isn't the only one that has produced on offense (QB) Gabe Dombek has proven that he can get the ball out and make plays something he demonstrated when he led his team down the field in a 2 minute drill to pull off a last minute victory over Stafford. The biggest room for the Black-Hawks to improve is on the defensive side of the ball their defense has struggled giving up big plays in each of their last 4 games. For Mountain View the Wildcats come into this one 6-0 which some people may be surprised about after the Wildcats lost so much talent. Last week against their rival Colonial Forge the Wildcats overcame some bad penalties and turnovers to still beat the Eagles 31-13. The defense for Mountain View makes things difficult for opponents. Led by Ohio State commit Eric Mensah the Wildcats defense has been absolutely suffocating for teams, especially in the first half where opponents have only scored 3 times on them all season. The Wildcats have been undefeated past the half-way mark before, but for some reason an unexpected slip up has happened all of those times, can Mountain View avoid an upset a week ahead of a huge game with Regional foe Patriot?

Score Prediction

Brooke Point 13 Mountain View 38
