Week 2 540 Preview

We have arrived at week 2 of the season but not every team has played a game yet, for at least 4 teams in the area this will be the first game of the season. Many storylines are already beginning to take shape this season so let's get into tonight's games.  

       INTRIGUING MATCH-UPS

    Hampton (1-0) at #1 King George (1-0)

Last week King George wasted absolutely no time jumping all over Brooke Point as Jack Pearson shined in his King George debut winning easily 48-14. This week the challenge will tighten up a little bit as one of the most historic programs in the state of Virginia comes rolling into town on Thursday night. Hampton won there season opener 31-6 over Woodside. If last Friday night showed us one thing it is how hard it will be to stop the combination of White and Wiggins who both showed out with spectacular performances. But those aren't the only contributors who will look to give the Crabbers a hard time tonight, (RB/LB) Charles Johnson and (WR/DB) Dylan Truxon both had good games in week 1, look for this game to be a fun one.

#9 Courtland (1-0) at #8 Louisa (1-0)  

Both of these teams are known for playing physical football and getting down hill. Louisa comes off a 35-14 win against Patrick Henry (Ashland) where some new faces shined for the Lions. While the Cougars avenged last season's loss to Orange by dominating the Hornets 40-14 last week. Both of programs come into this week feeling that they have something to prove to the rest pf the area. For Louisa it's about showing that even with their graduation/transfer losses, that their program and team is still one of the best in the 540. For Courtland it's more about showing signs of a resurgence to becoming a team that is always in the tick of the Battlefield district race.
