Week 10 Preview

Only 2 short weeks away from the playoffs! But first we have some more big games that will decide a lot in these next few weeks, take a sneak peek below!!

       INTRIGUING MATCH-UPS

    #10 Courtland (4-4) at #7 Eastern View (7-2)

A week ago we said that KG vs Eastern View was basically a district Championship game and for the most part it was, 2 teams that were undefeated in the district went at it and KG came out on top. But it wasn't ACTUALLY a district championship as some Cougar fans are probably aware of. It is in fact possible for Courtland to win the district however it will be no small task. The Cougars will need to win their last 2 games against King George next week, and tonight against Eastern View. Neither one of those match-ups would ever be confused as easy. The Cyclones come into their regular season finale sitting at 7-2 (5-1 in district play). A win would likely go a long way for the Cyclones who need all the wins they can get to get a decent seed in what is arguably the states most competitive region. Last week the Cyclones fell behind the powerhouse Foxes 23-0 before showing some mettle of their own stifling the Foxes in the second half before eventually falling 23-13. The Cyclones are a much improved team from who they were in September and they'll look to their to get to 8-2 before an off week before the playoffs.

Prediction: Courtland 13 Eastern View 27

Albemarle (7-1) at #2 Louisa (8-0)

If you know Jefferson district football, than you know that since Louisa has for the most part dominated it since 2017. But not last year. Last year the Albemarle Patriots hosted Louisa beat them by 16 and took home the Jefferson district title in the process. And this year? They sit at 7-1 and they have dominated their last 5 opponents, outscoring them 244-23. If the chance to repeat as district champions isn't enough motivation maybe a shot at a home playoff game is. The Patriots are sitting at the 4 seed at the moment and due to having a weaker non-district schedule they'll need to win tonight to stay there or else in a few weeks they'll have to hit the road. This team is certainly not low on confidence and they have experience in key positions. As for Louisa the Lions took their "disappointing" year a season ago and used as motivation in the summer. The Lions have been a buzzsaw all season long easily dispatching anyone who considered themselves a threat to them. So what has made this team so dominant? Well let's start at QB the Lions are sitting pretty there with Senior Landon Wilson who has been absolutely been slinging it so far this season (though I wouldn't recommend sleeping on his running ability). As far as his surrounding weapons go Freshman RB Savion Hiter, Freshman WR Dyzier Carter and Senior WR Takai Comfort are as about as good as it gets for this offense. And defensively a lot of their athletes play both ways and come up with big plays when needed, and who can forget about Qwenton Spellman the Towson bound DE? This Lions team is led by mostly Seniors on both sides of the ball, and those seniors will be highly motivated to take back the crown.

Prediction: Albemarle 17 Louisa 30

OTHER GAMES

* Projected Winners in bold

#1 King George (7-0) at Spotsylvania (4-4)

(Foxes look to keep the wheels on the machine running their defense has yet to surrender more than 13 points in a game)

#3 Riverbend (7-1) at Stafford (3-5)

(Riverbend has gotten better and better every week, Stafford on the other hand has lost 4 straight after a surprising 3-1 start)

#9 Brooke Point (3-5) at #5 Colonial Forge (4-4)

(Both teams have to view this as a must win if they want to keep their playoff hopes steady)

North Stafford (1-7) at #6 Mountain View (7-1)

(Mountain looks to avoid an upset as they take on arguably their biggest rival at home)

#8 Orange (6-2) at Goochland (3-5)

(Great bounce back win on Friday for the Hornets, another win tonight would go a long way)

Chancellor (0-8) at Culpeper (2-6)

(Another chance for the Chargers tonight, but they must find the endzone, more than once to get their first win)

Fauquier (0-9): 16 at Sherando (7-3): 55 [FINAL]

Caroline (3-5) at James Monroe (2-6)

(Believe me or not but both of these teams will likely be in the playoffs, which team will go with some momentum)
