Week 5 Preview

Week 5 tonight!! For many teams this is the half way point in the season. District play begins tonight and we will get some REAL answers about the top 10 teams in the county keep reading for more!!

Where I was Right/Wrong

Right:

As if going 10-3 in my picks last week wasn't good enough... I also correctly predicted the Forge-Stone Bridge score on the nose with 20-14 being the final.

Wrong:

Last week I said Brooke Point was staring 0-4 in the face and then I proceeded to pick against them. Brooke Point not only won last week, they dominated a top 5 team (at the time) on the road.

INTRIGUING MATCH-UPS

#9 Stafford (3-1) at #5 Colonial Forge (1-2)

The Indians are off to their best start since 2018 and are number 9 in our top 10. Not something that many expected from this Stafford team except for those within the program. But the real tests begin for the Indians tonight. With Colonial Forge being first in line to take on the Indians in the Commonwealth district. The Eagles are coming off of their second heartbreaking loss of the year as they gave up 2 4th quarter Touchdowns a week ago against 2x defending champion Stone Bridge. Though the Eagles sit at 1-2 the Eagles begin district play with a lot of confidence. This game is huge for an Eagles team that absolutely cannot afford to host Highland Springs next week with a record of 1-3. As for the Indians they'll be looking for their first win against Colonial Forge since 2011.

Prediction: Stafford 13 Colonial Forge 34

#1 Mountain View (4-0) at #10 Massaponax (1-2)

The Panthers come into this game at 1-2 after struggling in their last 2 games offensively in the first half. Both of the Panthers last 2 opponents were able to build comfortable leads before staving off comeback attempts made by Massaponax. Tonight their backs are against the wall as they will host #1 Mountain View. The Wildcats can't have too many complaints thus far as not only are they undefeated, but they also have shut out their last 3 opponents. Even though Massaponax has struggled through their first 3 games this has never been a program known for just laying down and calling it quits. Expect the Panthers to come out with some extra energy that we have yet to see from them this season in this district opener. The question is will it be enough?
