Week 4 Top 10

Week 3 is behind us! (flying by) Our Top 10 has been shaken up, yet all of the same teams remain! Looking forward to week 4!

Disclaimer: This is a list for PUBLIC school teams in the area not private that way we avoid as many Strength of Schedule debates as possible.

THE TOP TEN

10. Stafford Indians (2-1)

Stafford is a way better team than they were a season ago, however Friday night showed they still have some ways to go before they are one of the best in the area. Big game for the Indians ahead of district play coming up on Friday.

9. Orange Hornets (3-0)

The Hornets are at the same place they were a season ago record wise. 3-0 heading into week 4. Last year once they got to the bigger schools on their schedule they took 3 hard losses in a row. A win over 0-3 Harrisonburg would go a long way in showing things are different this season.

8. Massaponax Panthers (1-1)

Massaponax faced a stern opponent in Louisa last Friday night falling behind after 3 quarters 30-7. However in the 4th quarter, the defense tightened up and the offense began to move the ball as the Panthers came a couple of plays away from pulling off a big comeback. We believe Ponax will be fine this season, expecting a bounce back against Woodbridge.

7.  Riverbend Bears (2-1)

No better way to get over getting shut out like securing your own second shut out of the season. Riverbend's 39-0 victory was an absolute dominant showing throughout. And they'll have another in county test against Courtland before starting district play next week

6. Kettle Run Cougars (3-0)

For the second year in a row Kettle Run went against a tough Brentsville District team, and for the second year in a row Kettle Run dominated them this time 38-7. This small 4A school in Nokesville continues to play excellent football, they will be tested against a much improved Riverside team this Friday

5. Colonial Forge Eagles (1-1)

Great bounce back performance by the Eagles on the road in Fairfax last Friday. Also a quick shout out to the members of the Green Wall for making the trip up there. Not too many (if any) student sections in the area would even think about making that trip. The never ending gauntlet continues for the Eagles this week. As they will host the 2x defending State Champion Stone Bridge on Friday.

4. Eastern View Cyclones (3-0)

Brett Clatterbaugh returns, and the Cyclones promptly shut out their opponent (so much for an upset alert). Was hoping their game against Brooke Point this Friday would be more intriguing however, it is still a good test for the Cyclones.

3. Louisa Lions (3-0)

Louisa faced their first real challenger on Friday. And for about 3 quarters they dominated. Landon Wilson looked great and outside of one long TD run the defense shut down the Massaponax Panthers. The 4th quarter however, left a little fear in the Lions heart before clinching the win. They'll need to finish games stronger down the stretch

2. King George Foxes (1-0)

We recognize it is not their fault, but it's hard to stay at number 1 when you haven't played in 2 weeks. They'll look to knock off any rust against 2-0 Westmoreland this Friday.

1. Mountain View Wildcats (3-0)

Mountain View put 41 points in only 30 minutes of play on Friday night. That was easily enough as the Cats rolled 41-0. We'll see how these Wildcats handle playing in Downtown Fredericksburg this Friday.
