Week 4 Preview

 Week 4 has arrived! I must say, it feels like I was just typing the Week 3 preview just yesterday. Lot of big match ups this as many teams are wrapping up non-district play this week. 

Where I was Right/Wrong 

Right:

The Cougars from Kettle Run continue to live up to the expectations, they have been as consistent as any program in the 540 over the past 3 years. Oh and by the way I'm now 28-3 in my picks so far this season.

Wrong:

Listen, when you make a Pre-Season top 10 it's likely that one or 2 teams are going to... Not live up to expectations, which so far appears to be the case for Brooke Point who is off to a 0-3 start. They'll have an opportunity to turn their season around in a big way tonight. But based on how they've played so far 0-4 is staring them in the face. 

INTRIGUING MATCH-UPS

#10 Stafford (2-1) at Spotsylvania (1-1)

It could just be me, but I think this game is a pretty interesting one. Stafford suffered their first defeat of the 2022 season last week in not so pretty fashion. Getting shut out by number 4 Eastern View 28-0. But Eastern View is a good team as indicated by their Top 5 ranking. Defensively the Indians put up a good fight. Something they've done in all 3 games they have played thus far. As for Spotsylvania they're coming off a win and should feel fairly confident coming off a 48-21 win against Fluvanna in week 2. A big chance for both teams to gain some momentum before starting district play

Prediction: Stafford 21 Spotsylvania 14

                             

Stone Bridge (2-1) at #5 Colonial Forge (1-1) 

The Eagles continue their gauntlet of a schedule tonight as Stone Bridge rolls into town. This is our undisputed Game of the Week. Neither of these teams are lacking in size and both will look to establish some dominance in the trenches. For the Eagles, it's well known their going to want to get the ball in the hands of Dont'e Hawthorne he has lived up to expectations in the teams first 2 games. QB Eli Taylor will have to have a good game as well if the Eagles want to win this game in my estimation. Stone Bridge offensively will likely look to take small chunks of yards out of time using more and more of their vaunted Single-Wing Offense in their first 3 games than they have in a couple of years. Stone Bridge has rotated 3 different QBs in their first 3 games as they look to provide a boost to an offense only averaging 17.3 PPG. Expect a grind it out close match-up between two proud football teams. 

Prediction: Stone Bridge 20 Colonial Forge 14
